KARA STOERZINGER

KARA STOERZINGER

My husband Steve and I live in Shakopee, and have two teenage sons. I have served in Children and Family ministry in the church for 25 years. I am passionate about my relationship with God, family, and friends, and seek to devote my time outside of full time ministry to growing in these relationships.

After traveling to Haiti for the first time in 2011, God broke my heart for the people and country of Haiti in ways I did not anticipate. I continue to be drawn to how active and alive God is in Haiti, and believe that God is doing impactful things there for His Kingdom expansion. I am so thankful for Healing Haiti’s obedience to follow the calling to walk alongside our brothers and sisters in Haiti, and am very honored to serve in this ministry.

“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.” Ephesians 5:1-2 NLT

God has made it clear how to live, what to do and what He is looking for from us. Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, And don’t take yourself too seriously—take God seriously. Micah 6:8 (taken from The Message)

Gary and I live in White Bear Lake, MN. We have four children. My background is in nursing and home building.

It is an honor to work along side other believers, serve and tell the truth and hope of Jesus. It has been such a joy and privilege for our entire family to be a part of this ministry. Haiti has changed our perspective on life and its purpose. God has blessed us with time, talent and treasures and we strive to use them for His glory…every day requires a “do over” for us …His grace is real.

“If you spent yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your light will become like the noonday.” Isaiah 58: 10-11

I am a bit of a contradiction. I am a Peter and a Thomas and can be a Mary and a Martha at times too. But, that is our human experience and the very reason that the risen Jesus appeared on shore to restore Peter. The call is the same today on each of us.

My Haiti journey started about 8 years ago, when I heard a message and an invitation to be available to the least of these and the most vulnerable in the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Numerous trips to Haiti with Beyond Our Door, and HH working with the Fleri Team and my good friends Jake and Mike. Feeding children at Mother Teresa’s, changing diapers and just loving on the kids. Having a dance party at the M house with all of the kids. All of these interactions were God chosen and directed. I am a vessel of clay, I have a few cracks and scars that I have picked up along the way, but as long as I stay the course His hand will continue to use me for the rest of my days.

“The supremacy and pre-existence of Christ is foundational in knowing and understanding The nature of God and his true character. To know Jesus is to know God.” Colossians 1:15-18

My wife Nikki and I live in Plymouth, Minnesota. We have two amazing kids and polar bear for a dog. In January 2012, I traveled to Haiti and fell in love with the Haitian people. Upon my return, God placed an unexpected calling on my life. I jumped head first into leading mission teams and leading a volunteer team to build Healing Haiti’s job creation ministry.
By 2016, I left my career as an attorney and entered into full-time ministry with Healing Haiti. In order to make that happen my wife and I sold our home, gave away 60% of our possessions, and we temporarily moved in with family to make the transition work. Quickly, I began to understand what Jesus meant by, “take your cross and follow me.”
Despite the challenges, God absolutely blessed the decision. Being on the leadership team with Healing Haiti has been the best (and hardest) job of my life. God has sent me on countless adventures and has allowed me the opportunity to get a front row seat to watch his miracles side-by-side with our Haitian brothers and sisters.
In April 2022, I became the CEO of Healing Haiti. I’m humbled that God has placed me in this position. My passion is to ensure that every person we serve has the opportunity to encounter Jesus, find freedom, discover God’s purpose on their life and family, and make a difference. I believe every Haitian has a voice and a calling to make a difference in their community. It’s our job to give Haitians the platform to be heard and impact the world for God’s glory.
“And we know that for those who love God all things worth together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
