The Director of Development oversees and manages all aspects of Healing Haiti’s fundraising and partnership development program. This position is responsible to build a comprehensive and strategic financial advancement plan for the organization and build key relationships with church, business, educational partners, and individual donors. S/he will be responsible to increase, strengthen, and diversify Healing Haiti’s funding sources through various strategies and will be expected to meet annual fundraising goals. This is an entrepreneurial position. To succeed, the individual must be a self-starter who is willing and able to take initiative in establishing a long-term vibrant and engaged community of Healing Haiti supporters throughout the country. Additionally, the position will be expected to assist in providing marketing strategy and execution as well as oversight of a volunteer development team. The Director of Development serves on Healing Haiti’s leadership team and reports to the Chief Operations Officer.

Responsibilities
▪ Oversee and manage all aspects of Healing Haiti’s fundraising, donor, and partner development
▪ Recruit resources to promote and fulfill the mission and vision of Healing Haiti
▪ Actively work with COO, senior staff, and the Board of Directors to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include corporate, foundation, government grants, etc. in order to support Healing Haiti’s growth
▪ Build and maintain key relationships with churches, businesses, educational institutions, and individuals who will partner with and financially support the mission of Healing Haiti
▪ Identify and cultivate relationships with new partners and/or financial supporters
▪ Retain 85% of major donors and 70% of other relationships with Healing Haiti
▪ Achieve annual fundraising goals as set by the Chief Operations Officer of no less than $400,000 annually
▪ Hold at least 30 face-to-face meetings on a monthly basis and document in Healing Haiti’s donor database
▪ Develop and cultivate at least 5 new major donor relationships (each donor giving over $100,000 annually) over the next 2 years
▪ Work with Director of Missions to develop regional Healing Haiti ambassador boards throughout key regions of the US
▪ Lead at least 6 key vision trips to Haiti on an annual basis
▪ Mobilize and accompany donors to visit Healing Haiti’s programs in Haiti
▪ Plan or coordinate Giving Tuesday event on an annual basis
▪ Plan or coordinate Give to the Max event on an annual basis
▪ Play a key leadership role on the Celebration Team related to Healing Haiti’s annual Celebration
▪ Facilitate meetings and introductions of high-impact supporters with Healing Haiti’s founder and/or COO
▪ Manage and develop volunteer development team
▪ 15% of time will travel to areas where Healing Haiti has strong support to deepen relationships throughout the US
▪ Provide weekly and monthly development reports to the COO
▪ Attend leadership meetings on a regular basis
▪ Respond promptly to leadership, staff, donors, and/or volunteers
▪ Perform any and all other job duties outside of job description as assigned

▪ 3-7 years of fundraising, sales, or other relevant professional experience preferred

▪ Excellent networking ability
▪ Willing and able to travel; overnight and international travel required

Supervisory Responsibility
▪ The Director of Development has supervisory responsibility over a volunteer development team.

Education and/or Experience
▪ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in relevant field
▪ International experience and cross-cultural skills preferred
▪ Computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment
